My name is Georgie Binks and I majored in British history. After graduating I joined the world of journalism, first as a radio reporter for several radio stations in southern Ontario, then as a reporter and editor for CBC Radio and TV in Toronto. For the past 16 years I have worked as a freelance writer in Toronto. I just published my first novel, A Crack in the Pavement in September of 2013. As a journalist, I have found my history education has been invaluable in helping me with interviews and stories. For instance, several years ago I had the opportunity to interview the famous historian Margaret McMillan about her book, The Use and Abuse of History. I also do book reviews for the Toronto Star and often request history books to review.
