I completed an honours History BA in 1976, a History MA in 1978, and an MPA in 1979, all at Queen's. Deciding against doctoral studies at McGill, U of T, or Duke University, I joined the International Department of CIBC in Toronto in 1980, transferred to New York in 1982, and had a 25 year career on Wall Street, married, and raised two children. I sold a private equity partnership about five years ago and now consult, coach soccer and hockey, and run a family office. I am also a member of the Queen's Field Sports Committee, and I am on the board of Bishops College School, my old high school.
I keep my hand in reading "The Beaver", and, periodically, the latest in Canadian history offerings. I recently had a nice correspondence with my old professor Brian McKillop, now head of the history department at Carleton University, after reading his excellent (and exhaustive) biography of Pierre Berton. I have also recently been in touch with Dr. Wendy Cuthbertson (PhD Toronto), who, like me, wrote her masters thesis on WW II Canadian war finance and the National War Finance Committee.
