QUEEN’S-McGILL
GRADUATE STUDENT CONFERENCE
IN HISTORY
"Forward Through the Rearview Mirror?
Re-assessing history as a medium"
March 13-14 2009 / Queen's University, Kingston
On March 13th and 14th, 2009, the Queen’s Graduate History Students’
Association (GHSA) will host the fourth annual Queen’s-McGill Graduate
Student Conference in History on the Queen’s campus in Kingston, Ontario.
Our theme for the conference is “Forward Through the Rearview Mirror?
Re-assessing history as a medium.” The theme is to be interpreted
broadly, with the overall goal of offering graduate students the opportunity
to come together to discuss new perspectives and challenges in the
field of history. The organizing committee is particularly interested
in making connections across disciplines, institutions, and fields
of history. To this end, the structure of the conference is interdisciplinary
and papers from all historical subject areas will be welcomed and
encouraged.
Our keynote speaker is Dr. Brian McKillop of Carleton University,
a widely recognized authority on Canadian cultural and intellectual
history. His most recent work is a forthcoming biography of the iconic
Canadian public historian Pierre Berton.
