The Department of History is pleased to announce that this year's Faculty Lecture will be presented by Dr. Marguerite Van Die. Dr. Van Die will be giving a talk entitled Practising Medicine and Spiritualism in the 1860s: Sacred Encounters, Gender, and "Lived Religion". She has been a member of the history department since 1985 as a joint appointment with Queen's Theological College from which she retired in 2009. Her research interests are in nineteenth-century religion and society in North America, with a focus on religious practice, gender and middle class formation.
