Having done my Masters in the development of public green space in St Petersburg in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, I am now continuing with a similar line of research, expanding my comparative framework from London and Paris to Vienna, Berlin and potentially a few other major European capitals. Working with Professor Ana Siljak, my thesis will aim to demonstrate the way in which Russia's reaction to urban anxieties during industrialization differed from those in Europe, instigating an exurban leisure culture accessible to all classes and influencing the social, economic and political development of the country up to the present day. Outside of my PhD research, I am a member of the Outdoors Club, work at a local business (Novel Idea Book Store on Princess Street) and spend a large portion of my time exploring the great outdoors.
