B.A. (Hons.) University of Toronto-2011
Radhika completed her honours bachelor of arts degree specializing in history at the University of Toronto in 2011. During her undergraduate degree much of her studies focused on gender in history and the history of South Asia. While at the University of Toronto, Radhika completed an action project along with two of her fellow students on participatory learning in the university classroom. The project aimed to change classroom methods of teaching and learning for professors and university students. It challenged the pedagogy of learning and aimed to identify interlocking sets of oppression in a classroom setting. Along with her fellow students they subsequently published an article in the Canadian Bar Association's Women's Journal about how the goals of their project might be applicable in the legal profession and the law school classroom. At Queen's Radhika will be working under the guidance of Dr.Ishita Pande to explore the role of women during the nationalist movement in colonial India. She will explore how women were portrayed during this time period, their contributions to the movement, and more specificaly whether their contributions enabled them to step outside traditional notions of femininity. Radhika is also interested in the development of feminism and helping under serviced populations.
