Canadian economic history/comparative welfare state development
B.A. (Lakehead University), M.A. (Carleton University)
I have joined the History Department to complete my dissertation under the supervision of Dr. Timothy Smith. My research is focused on the development of the Keynesian consensus and the mixed economy model in Canada and other industrialized nations in the twentieth century. In particular, I am intending to study these trends through the career and intellectual contributions of John Deutsch, a prominent Canadian economist, a senior public servant in the Canadian government, and a former principal of Queen's University (1968-1974). This work will build on my previous research on welfare state development, twentieth-century economic thought, and Canadian public policy, and my own personal experiences as an employee of the federal government.
