Call for Proposals:

Round 13 – 2014 Summer Interns


The HMRC-CREATE program is currently accepting applications for paid and unpaid summer interns. The selection process includes two tracks: (a) paid research interns and (b) unpaid professional development interns.
 
Track A: Research Interns: The interns will be involved in a research project under the supervision of a faculty member for a duration of 16 weeks.  2 partial funding positions.
 
Track B: Professional Development Interns: Duration 16 weeks. Students with other funding are welcome to participate in the professional development workshops at no cost. Please note that these interns will not be paid by CREATE.

Program:The selected interns in both tracks will participate in bi-weekly professional development workshops and undertake a team-based service-learning project (about 2 hour per week commitment).

Application Process

For students: Applicants should submit the following: A resume, transcripts,and a cover letter (addressed to the HMRC-CREATE Awards and Selection Working Group) by the deadline.

For Faculty:Faculty members interested in applying for the summer internship funding should submit a brief abstract of the proposed summer project that will be posted on the CREATE website. The interns will select their summer project based on the submitted abstracts. NB: HMRC CREATE only pays $4,500 each faculty member whose project is selected for the internship program is responsible to cover the difference to meet their departments standards.

Deadline: Submit all materials electronically via email to create.biomed@queensu.ca by Friday, February 14, 2014.

The internship’s duration is for 16 weeks effective May – August, 2014.

Round 14 – Trainees


The HMRC-CREATE program is currently accepting new applications for graduate trainees.

 
April 2013: Two positions for Master’s level Trainees and  Two positions for Doctoral level Trainees are available for an April 2014 start date.

Note: current grant ends March 2015 and funding beyond this point is dependent on an extension from NSERC. Trainees will be guaranteed one year of funding from April 2014 to March 2015.

Application Process

For students: Applicants should submit the following: A resume, transcripts,and a cover letter (addressed to the HMRC-CREATE Awards and Selection Working Group) by the deadline.

Faculty members interested in applying should submit a NOI for Integrated Research Team projects. The Trainee should submit a separate application. The forms can be found at http://www.queensu.ca/hmrc-create/resources/applicationforms.html
