Application Instructions

Staff and Research job opportunities at Queen’s are advertised on the Queen’s Human Resources Careers page.  You can view available job postings and apply for positions online through CareerQ, Queen’s online recruitment system. The application instructions below provide information on how to log in to CareerQ and create a Career Profile.  You will use your Career Profile each time you apply for a staff or research position at Queen’s.

Queen’s Employees

As a Queen’s University employee, you have automatically been given a profile within CareerQ, which you will use to apply for positions.  You must have an active NetID and Password to access CareerQ. Visit the NetID FAQs for information on how to activate your NetID. If you are not an active Queen’s employee, please apply for staff and research positions through the External Applicants link.

To view and apply for positions, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Careers page on the Queen’s Human Resources website and click on the Queen’s Employees link under Staff and Research Positions. You will be directed to Queen’s Single Sign-On (SSO) page.
     
  2. Use your NetID and Password to log in to Queen’s Single Sign-On(SSO) . You will then be directed to the CareerQ My Profile page.
     
  3. Each time you log in to CareerQ, you will be asked to update your profile with your personal information. You must use your Queen’s University email address to log in to CareerQ in order to identify yourself as someone who currently works at Queen’s.
     
  4. To view Staff and Research postings click on the Job Opportunities link to the left of your Profile.

Troubleshooting

Queen’s Single Sign-On login
If you are having trouble logging into Queen’s Single Sign-On, contact the IT Support Centre at 613.533.6666 or complete the online help form.

CareerQ Profile
If you have confirmed that you have a Net ID, have confirmed that you are logging in through the SSO correctly and  are having trouble accessing your profile, or if you have questions about CareerQ, please email hradmin@queensu.ca for assistance.

Instructions for External Applicants (Non-Queen’s employees)

To view and apply for positions, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Careers page on the Queen’s Human Resources website and click on the External Applicants link under Staff and Research Positions. You will be directed to the Job Opportunities page in CareerQ.
     
  2. Should you find a job to which you would like to apply, click on the ‘I’m Interested’ button at the bottom of the job posting and the system will prompt you to set up a profile within CareerQ.
     
  3. To set up a profile within CareerQ, you will need to provide an email address, a password and a resumé.
     
  4. Once you have saved your profile, and are logged in to CareerQ, you will be guided through the remainder of the application process.
     
  5. Returning Users: Remember to log in to CareerQ to review and update your profile so it is accurate every time you apply for a job. You can access your profile by visiting the My Profile link on the Job Opportunities page. Once you have logged in you will be able to update your profile if needed, search for open jobs, and apply to jobs that interest you.

Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble using CareerQ, please review the Help link on the left hand side of the page. If you still need assistance after reviewing the FAQs, please contact the Njoyn Help Desk directly by email at candidate.njoynhelp@cgi.com, and include the following details of the problem:

  • Exact brand and version number of the browser.
  • Version of the operating system you are using.

Helpful Hints
  1. You are able to upload multiple resumes and cover letters to your profile and select which documents you would like to use for each individual application.
     
  2. CareerQ has a Career Alert functionality that will email you as jobs are posted that you are interested in.
     
  3. You are able to filter our list of jobs by using the Filter functionality on the jobs listing page.
     
  4. Once logged into CareerQ you can view past applications by clicking on the ‘My Jobs’ link on the left hand side of your screen.
     
  5. Once logged into CareerQ  you can manage documents you have uploaded by access the ‘My Documents’ link on the left hand side of your screen.
