The window for retirees and survivors to apply for new optional benefits has been extended to 8:00 p.m. on October 30, 2020. The deadline to submit Canada Life claims remains September 30, 2020.

Retirees who retired prior to July 1, 2020

You will now have until 8:00 p.m. on October 30, 2020 to elect new optional benefits.

Retirees who where participants in the Queen’s Retiree Benefits plan prior to July 1, 2020, are  eligible to elect the New Optional Dental, Optional Out of Country Emergency Medical Top-Up and Optional Retiree and Spousal Life Insurance as described below.

Surviving spouses who where participants in the Queen’s Retiree Benefits plan prior to July 1, 2020, are eligible to elect the New Optional Dental and the Optional Out of Country Emergency Medical Top-Up as described below.

Retirees and survivors will be able to verify personal information, current coverage and apply for new optional benefits by contacting Manulife Customer Care Centre at 1-800-268-6195, Monday to Friday from 8 am until 8 pm until October 30, 2020 by 8:00 p.m.  Please have the policy number (120156) and your certificate number with you when you call to ensure you are placed in the correct queue.

The deadline to submit paper claims to Canada Life for reimbursement for claims that occurred before July 1, 2020 remains September 30, 2020.  As the university has changed benefits providers (moving from Canada Life to Manulife), there can be no exceptions made if you do not submit any outstanding claims postmarked by September 30, 2020.

Health and Dental claim forms can be found under the Group Claim forms page on the Canada Life website.
