Adjusting to remote work environments - Email to Managers

March 16, 2020

The Principal’s message earlier today indicated that although the University remains open at this time, staff are encouraged, where possible, to work remotely. Managers should continue to work with staff to make remote work arrangements where operationally possible. Employees who hold positions that do not allow them to complete their work remotely, are still expected to attend the workplace, where possible. Queen’s IT Services has updated their website to provide information on resources for working remotely.

A COVID-19 Quarantine or Self-Isolation Form is now available for download on the Queen’s Human Resources website. The form should be filled out by anyone who is either quarantined or self-isolating.

The completed form should be sent to:
  Return to Work Services.

We have received a number of questions concerning recent travelers. The travel information on the Queen's COVID-19 website indicates that if you have recently travelled outside of Canada, public health authorities ask that you self-isolate for 14 days after your return. (Some provinces and territories may have specific recommendations for certain groups, like healthcare workers). If you develop any symptoms of respiratory illness within 14 days of returning to Canada, continue to self-isolate and contact your local health care provider. Please ensure that staff are aware of the requirement to self-isolate. At this time, the advice from health authorities is that if someone in a household has travelled outside of Canada and is in self-isolation and not experiencing any symptoms, there is no need for other members of the household who have not travelled to self-isolate. The other members should self-monitor and self-isolate if they develop symptoms.

Since the situation can change rapidly, Managers should continue to monitor the Queen’s University COVID-19 website and the Queen’s HR website for up to date information.
