2016 Childcare Benefit for (PSAC) Local 901, Unit 2

The application system remains open for members who qualify for the benefit. The Confirmation of Attendance Forms need to be received by Human Resources by the deadline of July 18, 2017. Details regarding the Childcare Support plan can be found in Appendix D of your collective agreement.

Note: To be complete, both the online and paper Confirmation of Attendance form(s) must be submitted to Human Resources.
Applications will not be accepted beyond the respective deadline.

Questions and Answers

  1. How do I apply for the Childcare Benefit?
    ​Follow the steps below to complete your application:
    • ​Log in to the Childcare Support System with your NetID and password.
    • Create and print an attendance form for each child/provider.  If a child attended more than one facility an application needs to be created for each location.
    • Bring the form to the child’s care facility so that they may complete, sign and return it to you
    • Log back into the Childcare System, go to Step 2, and enter the information provided by the care provider
    • Return the signed form to HR by the deadline (July 18, 2017).
  2. What period am I eligible to claim for 2016 expenses?
    The 2016 benefit year is the period commencing July 1, 2016 and ending December 31, 2016. Eligible employees who incur eligible childcare expenses during the benefit period may submit an application for reimbursement.
  3. Not all months after July are accessible/visible on line.  Can I claim them?
    If you did not have an active contract during the entire time only the months representing your most recent employment instance(s) will be visible to you and time you can claim.  For example, if you had an active contract from May 1st, 2016 to September 30, 2016 you would be able to submit claim(s) for care incurred between July 1, 2016 (as per PSAC agreement) and September 30, 2016.
  4. What is the maximum reimbursement I am eligible to receive?
    The maximum reimbursement will be $2000 per child for the benefit year.
  5. When will I be reimbursed?
    Payments will be made approximately two (2) months following the closing of the Application Window subject to monthly pay deadlines.
