2016 Childcare Benefit for (PSAC) Local 901, Unit 2

The application system for the Childcare Support Plan will be available on May 22, 2017 for members who qualify for the benefit. The Confirmation of Attendance Forms need to be received by Human Resources by the deadline (July 18, 2017). Note: Incomplete applications will not be accepted beyond the respective deadline. Details regarding the Childcare Support Plan can be found in Appendix D of your collective agreement.

Questions and Answers

  1. How do I apply for the Childcare Benefit?
    Follow the steps below to complete your application:
    • Using the link provided above, log in to the Childcare Support System with your NetID and password.
    • Create and print an attendance form for each child/provider.  If a child attended more than one facility an application needs to be created for each location.
    • Bring the form to the child’s care facility so that they may complete, sign and return it to you
    • Log back into the Childcare System, go to Step 2, and enter the information provided by the care provider
    • Return the signed form to HR by the deadline (July 18, 2017).
       
  2. What period am I eligible to claim for 2016 expenses?
    The 2016 benefit year is the period commencing July 1, 2016 and ending December 31, 2016. Eligible employees who incur eligible childcare expenses during the benefit period may submit an application for reimbursement.
     
  3. Not all months after July are accessible/visible on line.  Can I claim them?
    If you did not have an active contract during the entire time only the months representing your most recent employment instance(s) will be visible to you and time you can claim.  For example, if you had an active contract from May 1st, 2016 to September 30, 2016 you would be able to submit claim(s) for care incurred between July 1, 2016 (as per PSAC agreement) and September 30, 2016.
     
  4. What is the maximum reimbursement I am eligible to receive?
    The maximum reimbursement will be $2000 per child for the benefit year.
     
  5. When/how will I receive the payment for eligible Childcare expenses?
    Payments will be made approximately two months following the closing of the application window subject to monthly pay deadlines. The payment will be made by direct deposit and will included with your regular pay.
