Final Reminders - Employee Benefits Plan launching with Manulife July 1

Tuesday, June 30, 2020

Further to my email dated June 8, 2020, I am writing to remind you that the university’s benefits carrier is changing from Canada Life (formerly known as Great-West Life) to Manulife on July 1, 2020.

I would like to highlight again the following for you:

  • You should have recently received your new Manulife Benefits Card in the mail.  You can start using your new Manulife card on July 1, 2020. You can also access your benefits card using the Manulife Mobile app or view and print online from the Manulife website.
  • In order to access a copy of your card online, you will need to set up a plan member profile through the Manulife site, if you have not already done so.
  • You can manage your benefits coverage starting July 1, 2020 onwards.  You can also apply for new optional benefits through the online tool

If you have questions about your coverage:

  • You can contact the Manulife Customer Service Centre at 1-800-268-6195, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. if you need help navigating the online tool, accessing forms or questions about your benefits coverage.
  • We have worked with Manulife to develop virtual information sessions for employees.  You can hear from a Manulife representative and ask questions through a chat function.  Sessions are one hour in length and take place on:
  • A recording of the virtual employee information session is also accessible on the HR website.

Remember these important deadlines for submitting claims expenses you may have:

  • For claims incurred in 2019, submit through GroupNet for Plan Members or paper to Canada Life by June 30, 2020.
  • For claims incurred in 2020 between January 1 and June 30 submit:
    • Electronically through GroupNet for Plan Members to Canada Life by June 30, 2020 or,
    • By paper claim process to Canada Life by September 30, 2020.

We are pleased that the benefits launch with Manulife has arrived. We understand you may have specific questions about your benefits, your coverages or about the transition generally. Do not hesitate to contact Manulife directly, or send questions regarding the above to benefits.project@queensu.ca.

Regards,

Steve
