Members of the United Steelworkers Local 2010 bargaining unit have ratified a first collective agreement, with a majority of employees voting to accept the contract offer. The University has also, on the recommendation of its bargaining committee, ratified the agreement.
The two sides reached a tentative agreement July 5.
“Everyone involved in this process has worked diligently towards a common goal, and that is reaching an agreement that is acceptable to both parties,” says Caroline Davis, Vice-Principal (Finance & Administration). “I’m pleased that both the university and the bargaining unit members have ratified the agreement.”
The agreement is now published on the Human Resources website.
Bargaining unit members participated in ratification voting on August 1, 2 and 7. Of the 697 ballots cast, just over 90 per cent accepted the agreement.
USW Local 2010 represents approximately 1,100 employees of Queen’s University, General Support Staff (Grades 2-9).
