Skimble's Workout Trainer offers users thousands of free workouts complete with timed step-by-step audio and video instructions to help you get into shape. Workout Trainer has workout available whether you're looking to sculpt your muscles or improve your conditioning for a race. In addition to the built-in workouts, users can access the app's library to build their own custom routines and share them online, as well as try out routines shared by the community. A premium subscription unlocks more features such as HD workout videos and more exercise routines.

How to use this app:
Johnson & Johnson Official 7 Minute Workout app guides users through the original “7-minute workout”, as well as through more advanced routines of varying duration and intensity. Each workout is explained through short videos. A Smart Workout feature can function as your personal trainer. You can also create your own custom workout routines.

How to use this app:
Fitocracy is a social network for exercise, and uses a combination of gamification and peer pressure to encourage your exercise habits. Users can look up exercise routines and then log them in to score points, level up and gain achievements, all of which is displayed in a social media stream that other Fitocracy members can view, comment on and share and otherwise encourage. Signing up at the Fitocracy website also provides data syncing between the Web app and mobile, as well as the option to automatically post your updates to Twitter or Facebook.

How to use this app:

There are alternating run/ walk intervals where the run segments gradually increase over 8 weeks. The human voice coach tells you when to walk/ run and will blend into your own choice in music. My Fitness Pal serves as a diary for your daily fitness and nutrition, and a weight-loss and fitness tool.
How to use this app:
Use this app as a diary for your daily fitness and nutrition. The app lets you know how many net calories to consume to reach your goal weight, by taking in to account your activity level and basal metabolic rate (the average number of calories your body consumes on a daily basis). You can search the food you consumed in their database, or use the barcode tool to easily document your nutrition. Click on “Nutrition” to see what percentage of your intake comes from the different food groups, and if you are meeting your daily nutrition requirement.

Strava combines exercise and games, recording your running and cycling speed, distance and time and allowing you to unlock achievements and challenges.
How to use this app:
In addition to being a top-notch running and cycling tracker, Strava Running and Cycling adds some pretty neat competitive and gamified features to the usual run-tracking app. The app records your running speed, distance traveled, time and course taken, but also combines it with leaderboards, achievements and challenges. Strava supports a variety of running trackers, in addition to Android, Wear and Apple Watch. A premium subscription improves on the formula with filtered leaderboards, the ability to create exercise goals and view more detailed analytics and more.

How to use this app:

Pocket Yoga comes with detailed voice and video instructions for hundreds of different poses, complete with writeups on each one's proper execution and health benefits. Users can choose between three practices and three durations. The app keeps track of your exercises and progress for future reference.
