Sexual and Gender Diversity
The Queen's community is composed of a rich blend of sexual and gender identities. Bisexuals, trans, lesbian, gay, non-trans, heterosexual, and queer individuals work, study and live on campus

Queen's celebrates this diversity and is committed to protecting human rights based on sexual identity and gender variance. All members of the Queen's community have the right to equality in education, employment, and services.

Sexual identity or sexual orientation refers to our emotional and sexual attractions, sexual behaviours, and identification with a community. We may identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, or heterosexual.

Gender diversity refers to the ways in which many people cross gender boundaries with gender presentation, gender identity, or a gender role not typically associated with their birth-assigned sex. The term "trans" (transidentified, transgendered) includes: transsexuals, transgenderists, cross-dressers, intersexed, and people identifying as third (or fourth) sex. "Non-trans" describes those for whom gender, identify and expression match birth-assigned sex in a conventional way.
