It is important to find allies and to build coalitions in your community. If available, a local lesbian, gay, bisexual organization or HIV/AIDS organization may offer support and information for transgendered people. You can also try contacting a Human Rights Commission, if nearby, for information and support. If you have a university campus in your area, there may be staff who are researching this area, a human rights or equity office working on accessibility on campus, or transgendered people involved with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender organization.
