IPODMCH: Inter-professional Project on Disability, Maternal and Child Health  in Bangladesh

The Government of Canada provided funding through the Canadian International Development Agency for the Interprofessional Project on Disability, Maternal and Child Health (IPODMCH) in Bangladesh. This $1.3 million initiative is being implemented by the International Centre for the Advancement of Community Based Rehabilitation (ICACBR)/Queen’s University as part of the Canadian Government’s Muskoka Initiative Partnership Program.IPODMCH aims to strengthen health systems by increasing access to and use of maternal and child health and disability (MCHD) services and contribute to the reduction in mortality and disability rates. It will establish interprofessional teams of existing community health and community based rehabilitation personnel with the capacity to respond to MCHD needs in communities. Activities will raise awareness of community members, both men and women, about the importance of use of MCHD services, and create a policy environment for their sustainability.
