Queen’s researchers in Policy Studies, Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Geography and Chemical Engineering are working together with Lafarge, the world’s largest supplier of construction materials, to investigate the social, environmental and economic impact of reducing coal consumption in the production of cement. With research ranging from analysis of environment effects to technical evaluation of the relationships among fuel options, process and the cement product, this partnership has the potential to influence production practices, reduce pollution, and create a cleaner future.
