NEXT Canada seeking 6th Next Founders cohort

Are you a startup founder looking to rapidly scale both your Business and your Mindset?

February 15, 2018

Two women pitching their start up at Next Founders

NEXT Canada has opened applications for the 2018 cohort of Next Founders , a program for strong founders of ventures with significant traction who are seeking advanced entrepreneurial education, funding and access to the NEXT network of investors, entrepreneurs and senior business leaders.

About Next Founders

This will be the sixth cohort of Next Founders, a program for entrepreneurs with ventures that are later stage than Next 36 and NextAI businesses. Alumni of this program include the founders of Nymi, OTI, Sampler, SpringLoaded, #paid, Inkbox, Eve Medical and Blue J Legal. Complete alumni list here.

Next Founders provides:

  • a peer network of entrepreneurs facing similar challenges,
  • exposure to a broader network of mentors, advisors, investors and potential customers,
  • tailored education that is relevant to scaling a startup delivered by world-class faculty and successful entrepreneurs,
  • workspace in downtown Toronto, and
  • $30K in non-dilutive funding for eligible ventures.

New for 2018:

For maximum flexibility, all required programming will be delivered during an immersive Founder Development block in early May in Toronto. All remaining programming is opt-in over the course of the summer (100+ hours of classes, workshops and networking pitch opportunities). NEXT Canada also delivers the NextAI accelerator program and “AI-first” Next Founders ventures will be considered for select NextAI programming where space is available.

They are looking for:

  • Canadian founders of scalable, high-growth ventures
  • Inventors and researchers with technology they hope to commercialize
  • Talented founders seeking personal development, a community of peers and exposure to investors and customers
  • Startup founders from top tier accelerators, looking to complement their experience

The program takes no equity and makes no direct investment.  Historically, most participants have had traction in the form of seed funding, significant revenue milestones or validation of deep research that is ready for commercialization.  The ideal applicant is on her/his first venture, often has a STEM background with little formal business education and may be looking to raise a larger round of funding.
