Apply to be the Coordinator of QICSI for the summer of 2017

The Dunin-Deshpande Queen's Innovation Centre (DDQIC) is hiring a QIC Summer Initiative (QICSI) Coordinator for the summer of 2017. The Coordinator will be involved in all aspects of running the program. The job will begin as of May 1st, 2016 and continue until the end of the QICSI program on August 26th, 2016.

1) Project management – the QICSI Coordinator will immediately be given the responsibility of a group of up to 40 students to manage and organize
2) Research – learning about different industries, business models, and marketing strategies
3) Leadership – to work in a dynamic team atmosphere and be able to lead multiple high performance teams towards becoming successful businesses
4) Professional conduct – to be confident in speaking with professionals and learn skills required for the workplace
5) Business strategy – learning all aspects of entrepreneurship and how to run a start-up company

The job is excellent for anyone who wishes to pursue a career as an entrepreneur, management consultant, project manager or working in the start-up community.

The skills developed through this position are critical to almost all future job opportunities and also directly related to those required by students interested in pursuing an MBA. 

What are the job requirements?

A background in any faculty is acceptable, so long as the candidate shows a passion for entrepreneurship and a willingness to learn.

  • Strong interpersonal,communication and conflict management skills
  • Strong project management skills is a must
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to make recommendations to teams and assist with goal setting and project management
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and manage time effectively
  • Ability to manage teams effectively
  • Maintain relationships with industry professionals and Queen’s Alumni
  • Previous participation or active involvement with the Queen’s Innovation Connector is an asset
  • Graphic design and marketing skills are an asset
  • Knowledge of small business practise including incorporation, patent law and raising capital is an asset
