Development Projects, Research and Resources

  • Global Development Studies Program
    An interdisciplinary, undergraduate programme that explores issues of relevance to developing countries and aboriginal communities.
  • Global Development Studies: Work/Study Placement
    Overseas placement opportunity for DEVS medials.
  • Queen's Health Outreach (QHO)
    Formerly Queen's Medical Outreach. A student-run volunteer organization dedicated to promoting individual and community health both locally and abroad. Each year QHO sends over 30 travelers to seven locations around the world to complete health promotion projects.
  • Queen's Project on International Development (QPID)
    A student-run volunteer organization whose mission is to assist developing communities in Canada and abroad in improving their quality of life through local partnerships in country.
  • Studies in National and International Development (SNID)
    SNID (Est.1983) serves the Queen's development community with a diverse, weekly program of visiting and local speakers discussing a cross-disciplinary range of development-related topics.
  • The International Centre for the Advancement of Community Based Rehabilitation (ICACBR)
    An organization committed to advancing the concept of community based rehabilitation (CBR) practice in partnership with persons with disabilities and their communities around the world.
  • Building Democracy in Ukraine
    Seeks to provide Ukraine with the capacity to deliver a self-sustaining education program to foster and strengthen commitment to liberal-democratic values and liberal-democratic governance processes.
  • Southern African Research Centre (SARC)
    A focal point within Canada for research and international development programmes focused on the Southern African Development Community region.
  • Southern African Migration Project (SAMP)
    An international migration research, training and policy network linking Canada with the Southern African Development Community.
  • Centre for International Relations
    Conducts research in European security and transatlantic relations, hemispheric security, Canadian and international security policy including foreign and defence policy.
  • China Research Forum
    Promotes Queen's research on China and research partnerships with Chinese institutions including Fudan University, Shanghai.
  • Municipal Services Project
    A multi-partner research, policy, and educational initiative examining the restructuring of municipal services in Southern Africa. Research interests include the impacts of decentralization, privatization, cost recovery and community participation on the delivery of basic services to the rural and urban poor, and how these reforms impact on public, industrial and mental health.
