Queen's University

Eligibility

Is the International Studies program open to anyone?

The International Studies program is open to any student pursuing an undergraduate degree at Queen's. Designed to enhance university studies, the Certificate is not a stand-alone option and is only awarded upon graduation with a Queen's degree.

Comprised primarily of language, humanities and social science courses, the Certificate is a natural option for undergraduate students enrolled in the Faculty of Arts and Science. Students whose Plan requirements coincide with the Certificate requirements (e.g., Languages, Linguistics), may double-count credits toward their Plan and the Certificate. Other students may complete the Certificate requirements as part of their elective units.

In a small number of cases, students with particularly demanding Plan requirements may have to take additional credits beyond their degree requirements in order to complete both their Plan and the International Studies program.

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce program may enhance their degree program by completing the Certificate requirements as part of their Queen's Option. Students enrolled in other Faculties or Schools are advised to contact their Faculty advisor in order to indicate their interest.
