The exchange application for Faculty of Arts and Science bilateral exchange programs will be available on-line in November. Applicants can select up to six institutions on the application form and they do not have to be in the same region or country. Some locations and universities can be heavily subscribed so it can be beneficial to have diversity in the selections. Students must be sure that the institutions listed on the application will be suitable for their academic program. The selection committee will assume that students have fully researched the universities selected by the applicant for program and course compatibility.
Students applying to any of the exchange partners in the the Trans-Atlantic Science Student Exchange Program (TASSEP) follow the same application process as for the bilateral exchanges. The TASSEP partners are identified in the drop-down partner list on the application form.
Completed applications must be submitted using the on-line form and the supporting documents outlined below must be submitted to the IPO by the published deadlines to ensure a complete application.

For students who wish to apply for a consortial exchange program (i.e. OBW/OJS/OMG/ORA, or Killam), a separate application and supporting documents are required. All students are required to submit a 600-word statement of interest essay as part of the application. The essay should address the following statements:
The statement should be rigorously checked for spelling and grammatical errors as it will be read by the selection committee at the IPO, and, if you are nominated to participate in the exchange, by the partner institution as well.
Résumés should be a maximum of two pages. The selection committee is interested not only in work history, but in the experiences which show the student to be someone who is well-rounded, mature and capable of taking on a new challenge. Information about volunteer positions, languages, hobbies, community involvement, scholarships, and any previous international experiences should also be included. Try to include extracurricular/volunteer activities that you may participated in while at Queen's (or at the BISC for students who were in the BISC First-Year Program). Consult with Career Services if uncertain about how to prepare a résumé.
An academic reference is required for all applications and the referee should be someone that can comment on the student's university-level academic work such as a professor or a teaching assistant (if from a TA, the reference form should be co-signed by the professor of the course). It is preferred that the referee be from a second-year course. The reference form must be signed and put in a sealed envelope.
*Tip: To increase the chances of having an academic provide students with a reference, consider putting together a small portfolio which might include the statement of interest, copies of graded essays/tests from that class, résumé, etc.
Applicants are not required to obtain an official transcript from the Registrar's Office as the IPO office is able to access academic records for the application.
