Call for applications!

SWEA is an international organization of Swedish women, whose mandate is to promote Swedish history, culture and tradition outside Sweden. For over 25 years, the Toronto chapter of SWEA has offered scholarships to full-time students at Ontario universities that have an established official exchange with a university in Sweden.

This organization offers up to $3,000 if the student intends to study on the bilateral exchange program in Sweden for a full academic year and up to $1,500 for a single semester. They award the scholarships to selected students on the basis of academic merit and whether the students can convey in their application letter that they are eager to learn about Swedish culture and society, or would benefit particularly from studying in Sweden. The scholarship is open to graduates as well as undergraduates. Both male and female students are welcome to apply. Please note that the student must be a Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant in Canada in order to be eligible for our scholarship.

To apply please submit the following documents to the International Programs Office (B206, Mackintosh-Corry Hall) by May 3, 2017:

  1. A letter addressed to SWEA Toronto indicating the purpose and the length of your studies in Sweden, contact information, the approximate departure date, the reasons why you chose to study in Sweden in particular and, if possible, a list of the courses you plan to pursue during the exchange;
  2. Your curriculum vitae (resume)
  3. Signed Consent Form

Queen's University will forward all documents to SWEA Toronto on behalf of applicants. For more information please view SWEA's informational poster and application checklist. Good luck!
