Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall strategic direction of risk management at the university
  • Develop a framework that allows the University to manage risk in a structured way and promote a strong risk management culture within the university
  • Appraise risk management issues and ensure that senior management and the Board of Trustees are kept informed of significant risk management issues and of the part that they play in them
  • Project management, financial management, relationship management, communications, data collection, organization and administration in the Office of the VPFA

​Profile

Kim Murphy assumed the role of Director of Risk Management and the Office of V.P. (Finance & Administration) on July 12, 2010.  Her dual role includes responsibility for the Enterprise Risk Management Process for Queen’s in addition to performing the duties of Director in the Office of the Vice Principal (Finance and Administration).

Kim is a Chartered Public Accountant (CPA, CA) and began her career at Queen’s University in September 1999 after working in public accounting for eight years.  Her first four years at Queen’s were spent as a Manager in Internal Audit and then she moved into the role of Finance and Staffing Manager in the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs for seven years.
