To dispose of any equipment owned by Queen's not containing any confidential information, please visit Queen'sPhysical Plant Waste Services to setup an EWaste Pickup.
To dispose of equipment owned by Queen's that does, or may, contain confidential information, you may bring the unit to the store. Before the equipment is transferred to Physical Plant Services for recycling, we will remove the hard drives from the equipment, and securely dispose of it. If you have already removed the hard drive fom the equipment, please fill out the drive degaussing request form. If there is a large volume of computers to dispose of, the drives should be removed from the units as well as from any mount that may be attached, and sent to the store on their own. Fixit@queensu.ca should then be contacted to pick up the rest of the hardware from owner directly.
We also accept all ink and toner cartridges for recycling. Simply pack them up, mark "for recycling" and ship to the Computer Store. Clothesline® collects and then sells the cartridges to a remanufacturer, with all proceeds going to the Canadian Diabetes Association. If you would like to arrange for local pickup of your cartridges directly, please contact Nicole at Clothesline® for a pickup.
