Over-the-Air Installation
Over-the-Air installation includes downloading and installing the Notify BlackBerry Installer and using the Notify BlackBerry Installer to install the NotifyLink application. Later on, the Installer may be used to check for and install the latest NotifyLink software updates.

Download the Notify BlackBerry Installer Step 1:
From your BlackBerry device, select the Browser icon.

Step 2:
Enter the following web address to begin the download:
|
|
|
|
Step 3:
Select the BlackBerry Devices link. |
|
|
|
Step 4:
Select the Download button to download the Notify BlackBerry Installer.
Hint: Leave the
Set applications permissions box unchecked, unless you wish to manually adjust your BlackBerry’s permission settings. Hint: During the installation process, select “Allow” when Application Permissions screens for the Notify products display. |

Step 5:
Once the Notify BlackBerry Installer has been downloaded and installed, select Run to launch the Notify BlackBerry Installer application. Hint: Select OK if you wish to postpone installing NotifyLink. Click the Notify BlackBerry Installer icon from the BlackBerry Downloads screen to access the installer at a later time.

Use the Notify BlackBerry Installer to download and install NotifyLink Step 6:
Within the Notify Blackberry Installer, begin the NotifyLinkdownload process by selecting the Check for Updates button.

Step 7:
The Notify BlackBerry Installer locates and displays the most current NotifyLink for BlackBerry version available, along with the Notify Core Library and a PDF viewing application.
Select the device client and the core library and any other application you wish to load and select Continue.
Note for DynoPlex Users: With NotifyLink for BlackBerry device client version 4.7.x, users can still use and will have an option to download the DynoPlex attachment viewing application if they are still synchronizing with a 4.6.x version of the NotifyLink Enterprise Server . Please note that support for DynoPlex applications will end with NotifyLink Enterprise Server upgrades to version 4.7.x. |

Step 8:
At the installation confirmation screen, select Yes to confirm and continue.
Hint : if you cannot see the ‘Yes’ button, scroll up using the device trackball. |

Step 9: As NotifyLink downloads, a progression bar displays.
When NotifyLink has finished downloading and installing, reboot the device. To Reboot

During the installation process you may see a security prompt that requests changes to application control permissions. Select the View button. You will see options to give permissions to components of the NotifyLink application. Select Save from the menu. |

Step 10:
After rebooting, you may see several security prompts which ask you to give the NotifyLinkapplication permission to run. With any NotifyLink related security prompt, do the following: 1. Check the box titled, Do not ask again. 2. Select the Allow button. |

Step 11:
Once your BlackBerry device has rebooted, you can access the NotifyLink application from the device Home screen (or from the Applications or Downloads folder).
You will see two new icons representing the applications you have successfully installed. |

Hint: Move your Notify icons to the Home screen for easy access Locate the NotifyLink and Notify BlackBerry Installer icons in the Application or Downloads folder. Reposition an icon on the Home screen Highlight the Notify icon and press the
Menu key. Click

Now you are ready to register your device with NotifyLink. |

Once the NotifyLink installation is complete, you can create and register your user account.
Email and PIM synchronization will not begin until you are registered.

To Begin Select the NotifyLink icon from your BlackBerry menu

Step 1: Enter your Email Address and Authentication Password. Email Address – Your address you provided for your notifylink account. Usually your netid@queensu.ca email address.

Step 2: At the Network Setting field, choose the network type NotifyLinkuses when opening network connections. The default is Auto Detect which automatically chooses an appropriate network setting based on available services.
Hint: If you intend to use Direct Push synchronization, you must use TCP network provisioning. See more on Auto Detect functionality and requirements here. From the Advanced… screen, you may also set your preference for the Automatic Radio Cycle. If attempts to open a network connection consistently fail, the device will:

Prioritize Connection Types for Auto Detect: On the Network Setting Advancedscreen, highlight the Auto Detect option, press the menu key, and select Edit. Use the arrows to change the priority of the connection types used or move them into the Do Not Use area. Select Save from the menu. |

Step 3: Under PIM Load, select the types of PIM items (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks) to synchronize. Choose whether you wish to:
*A note about Merging and Loading: When items exist on both the server and device, choosing to Merge Items will result in duplicates on both the server and device. Choosing to Load without Merging will result in duplicates on the device.

Step 4:
Select Register from the menu to initiate the registration.
|

|
|
If you have chosen to replace any of the PIM items (Calendar, Contacts, or Tasks), a warning appears indicating that any items currently on the device will be deleted. Before continuing, you may wish to backup important items that will be lost in this process. When you are ready to proceed, select Yes.

|
You will see a security prompt which asks you to give the NotifyLinkapplication permission to run. With any NotifyLink related security prompt, do the following: 1. Check the box titled, Do not ask again. 2. Select the Allow button. Registration will fail if you deny this connection. |

|
You will see the device Inbox once the registration is completed. The length of time for registration varies depending on the amount of data to be downloaded on first sync.
Check the top-left corner to verify that the correct time and date are showing along with the Username that you entered. The Inbox will populate as the device completes its first synchronization cycle.
