Configure Outlook 2011 for IMAP
All staff and faculty have Exchange accounts. However, some may be the owner of more than one Exchange email addresses. In that case, if you want all your Exchange accounts to exist on one Outlook client profile, you may choose to set up your secondary Exchange email address(s) as IMAP instead of Exchange, because Outlook only allows you to set up one Exchange account for one given profile.
- Start Outlook
- From the Tools menu select Accounts...
- The Accounts screen will open
- Click the E-mail Account button for POP or IMAP e-mail accounts....
- The Enter your account information. screen will open
- In the E-mail address: field enter your NetID email address
- In the Password: field enter your password

Configure Automatically

Click the Add Account button
- The Enter your account information. screen will expand for you to enter your account information
- The E-mail address: field and the Password: field were completed before the screen expanded
- In the User name: field enter your email address. Note this must be your NetID@queensu.ca email address even if you normally use the your.name@queensu.ca email alias
- From the Type: drop down menu select IMAP
- In the Incoming server: field enter qwa.queensu.ca
- Check the box beside Use SSL to connect (recommended)
- In the Outgoing server: field enter qwa.queensu.ca
- Check the box beside Override default port. Note: if you entered 465 in the Outgoind server box before checking this box you will probably need to re-enter it.
- Check the box beside Use SSL to connect (recommended)
- In the box beside the Outgoing server: box enter 465
- Click the Add Account button
- The Accounts screen will open
- Click the More Options... button underneath Outgoing server
- Ensure Use Incoming Server Info is selected from the Authentication drop down list
- Click the OK button
- The Accounts Screen will open once more
- You may change the Account Description if you like

Click the Exit button
- Your account is now ready for use
