This is summary of the setting used in the following tutorials. To send mail from off campus via Queen's mail server, you need to use SMTP Authentication with SSL.
- To use SSL for e-mail you need to configure your e-mail client to use the secure ports when sending and receiving e-mail.
- For incoming e-mail (inbound) use:
- host: mail.queensu.ca, Encryption: SSL
- If your email client is configured to use POP use port 995
- If your email client is configured to use IMAP use port 993.
- For outgoing email (SMTP or outbound) use:
- host: mail.queensu.ca
- port: 465
- Encryption: SSL
- SMTP Authentication: Password
- Note: Your account is your NetID, not your your.name@queens.ca or netid@queensu.ca.
- Choose your email client from the menu on the left.

Note If your office is located at Kingston General Hospital (KGH) or Hotel Dieu Hospital (HDH): IMAP is not available on the KGH/HDH Networks, only POP configurations will work. Also KGH/HDH does not support
