Email Tutorials - Configuring Apple's Mail client for your.name option


This document is intended to help you configure your Apple's Mail client V2.1 to V5.0 (Mac OS X 10.4 to 10.7) to use the your.name@queensu.caoption to send and receive e-mail using your Queen's e-mail account. The instructions are the same whether your client is configured to use POP or IMAP.

 

These instructions do not contain the full instructions for configuring Apple's Mail client to access Queen's E-mail. For the full instructions, please select the Mac OS version you are using and then select IMAP or POP to configure incoming mail and Configure outgoing mail (SMTP).

 

If you do not know the version please select from the Apple menu, "About this Mac".

 

 

Configure Apple's Mail client to use the "your.name@queensu.ca" e-mail option

 

Note: If you subscribe to or own any mailing lists you need to update your e-mail address on these lists beforeyou change your mail settings.

 

  • Start Apple's Mail client
  • From the Mail menu select Preferences...

  • The Accounts screen will open
    • Click the mail account you want to change to select it
    • In the Email Address: field enter the your.name@queensu.cae-mail address you have been given
    • Your NetID should be already be displayed in the User Name: field. Don't change it.
    • Click the closebutton in the top left hand corner to save your changes

  • The Save Changes screen will be displayed
    • Click the Savebutton

Apple's Mail client has now been configured to send e-mail using the your.name@queensu.ca option.
