Queen's UniversityConfiguring Address Book to use Queen's LDAP Directory
This document is intended to help you configure your Apple's Mail client V3.5 (Mac OS X 10.5.8) to use the Queen's LDAP Directory.
Note: Lookups are only valid when on Queen's campus.
- Open the Address Book application.
- From the Address Book Menu, select Preferences.
- Select "+" add button.
- The Add Account / Settings screen will appear
- Enter Description: Queen's Address Book
- Enter Server address:addressbook.queensu.ca
- Enter Port: 389
- Enter Search base: ou=people,o=main,dc=queensu,dc=ca
- Then press Save
- Your Apple's Mail client and Address Book can now lookup a Queen's name while on Queen's network. The results will be same as Queen's On-line Directory
Address Book will now have new entry under Directories.- Select Directories -> Queens AddressBook and then search for name in the search field.
- You can change the Address POP Menu to display Phone and email address.
- Notice that Address contain department, Name only contains last name.
