Using Webmail

  1. Open a web browser and go to https://webmail.queensu.ca/
    • Enter your NetIDand password
    • Click the loginbutton
    • If you receive a message about the Secure Certificate accept the certificate. Once the certificate is accepted you won't see it again.
    • Protect your Password: Refuse any offers from a web browser to remember your password on public computers.
    • When finished, log out of your email and close your browser.

  3. When you log into your Webmail account, you see the Home page for Webmail. The top menu of your screen will be similar to the one below.
    1. This top menu is visible from anywhere within webmail.
      • Home- clicking this link returns you to webmail's home page
      • Log Out- when you are finished using Webmail remember to Log Out by clicking this link. Close your browser as well.
      • Help- click this link to open the help files for the category you are working in.
    2. There are 4 tabs available in Webmail for you work with:
      • Mail
      • Calendar
      • Addess Book
      • Options
    3. Current Folder tells you where you are. You can click the drop down arrow to select other folders to work within. The default folders and any folders you create will be shown in this list.

  4. beneath the tabs for Mail, Calendar, Addess Book, and Options are the menu items for each of these tabs. The Mail menu is displayed below.

  6. When the Mail tab is selected your inbox is displayed and you will also see a navigation menu on the left hand side.
  7. This menu contains all of the folders you currently have. You can create other folder when you want.
  8. Your Quota is also shown as a graphical image of how much disk space you are using and what your allocation is.
  9. As you save more email in your account (saved mail, sent mail, and trash) the graph will increase so you have a reminder that you are running out of diskspace. When you reach 80% you will receive a warning message indicating that you are approaching your limit. Once you reach your limit you will no longer be able to receive email. You will be able to log in and delete email and send email but any email sent to you will be "returned to sender"
