Applying to Become an ITAdmin Rep

General requirements for ITAdmin Reps

Willingness to Learn:
An ITAdmin Rep must be willing to learn about computers and their applications and be able to participate in educational programs provided by ITS.

Computer Literate:
Some degree of computer literacy is expected.

Staff Position:
It is strongly recommended that the ITAdmin Rep be a permanent, continuing staff member owing to the time commitment and more consistent availability. This minimizes the re-training required to bring changing reps up to entry-level status and allows for more continuity in departmental support.

Number of ITAdmin Reps per Department:
Based on the size of the department and the possible division of the department geographically, there could be more than one ITAdmin Rep representing a department (maximum of two per department). For departments with few personnel resources, neighbouring departments could share a ITAdmin Rep.

ITAdmin Rep Time Commitment:
The time required to perform certain tasks in a department will vary depending on the ITAdmin Rep's computing skills, and their designated job function within the department. Times listed below are approximations.

  • Administrative tasks: one hour per week.
  • ITAdmin Rep Training to bring a new ITAdmin Rep to entry-level status, and then on-going training to keep updating skills and information: one hour per week.
  • Computing duties, i.e., assisting departmental members with software and/or hardware questions and problems: anywhere from one hour to eight hours per week.
  • Availability for ITAdmin Rep meetings.

To add a new, additional or replacement ITAdmin Rep:

  • Download the ITAdmin Reps downloadable forms (PDF*, 88 KB) to register a new ITAdmin Rep.
  • The ITAdmin Rep candidate completes the questionnaire. The Department Head should sign the acknowledgement form.
  • Submit the completed questionnaire and signed acknowledgement form to Marg Hogan, ITS, G13 Dupuis Hall.
