Managed Services for Windows - Windows Virtual Server

MSW Virtual Server utilizes VMware technology to offer a dedicated server without the cost of buying the hardware.

Getting Started

Eligibility:

• Departments, Instructional Units, and Queen’s Affiliated Groups.

Additional Information

This offering allows the use of a dedicated server without the need to buy hardware. VMWare ESX is installed on a large server. This software then allows you to create Virtual Servers that are all independent of each other but utilize the same hardware. The server operating system can be any of the ESX supported systems. There are two identical servers with fibre connections to the Storage Area Network which are located in a secure, climate-controlled environment with UPS. This allows for load balancing and maintenance to occur without interruption to the clients. Included with the cost is 1 CPU, 512 MB of RAM, one NIC and 10 GB of disk space.

• The Master Service Agreement governs all of the Managed Services for Windows; Appendix E provides additional information specific to Windows Virtual Server.
