Challenge Questions and Alternate Email Address Using IDM


Students have the option of creating Challenge Questions and providing an Alternate Email address so if they forget their password they can re-set the password themselves.  If Students choose not to create Challenge Questions and provide an alternate email address, if they forget their password it becomes a manual process to have it re-set by the IT Support Centre.


Faculty and Staff do not have the option of creating Challenge Questions and providing an Alternate Email address.

  1. Go to https://netid.queensu.ca  
    • Enter your NetID
    • Enter your Password
    • Click the Loginbutton
    NetID Profile Manager Login
  2. The NetID Profile Manager screen will open. 
    • Click the link Change your external email address & challenge questions

  3. The Change User Account Attributes screen will open 
    • Your NetID and Queen's email address should already be filled in
    • enter your external email address
    • re-enter your external email address to confirm it
    • Answer 4 or more of the challenge questions
    • Click the Savebutton.
    • Your password will be changed.  Note:  It may take several hours for your new password to be passed to all the systems that use your NetID and password.

  4. Should you forget your NetID password you will be able to re-set it yourself using the Password Reset Tool.
