Recovering Deleted Emails

In Office 365 deleted items can remain in the Deleted Items folder indefinitely. The maximum numbers of days that items removed from the Deleted Items folder are retained before they are permanently deleted is 14 days. During this time Items may be recovered. Windows users can recover deleted items in Outlook 2013, Outlook 2010 or in the Office 365 Web App; Mac users should do this in Office 365 Web App.

  1. Log into
  2. Right-click on the Deleted Items folder.
    • Select Recover Deleted Items...


  3. The Recover Deleted Items screen will open
    • You will see a list of messages organized by the dates on which they were deleted.
    • Click the message(s) you want to recover. You can select multiple items by holding down the control key.
    • Click the Recover button.


  4. The Recover Items screen will open.
    • The items you select to recover will be restore to their default folders: Inbox, Calendar folder, Contacts, or Tasks
    • Click the OK button
