Advanced Threat Protection (ATP)

ATP is an email protection service from Microsoft. This service protects users from malicious email content by inspecting URLs and Attachments on incoming emails. If a message contains unsafe content then it will warn the email recipient.

There are 2 key features of ATP

Link Scanning has be enabled for all mailboxes as of June 8th, 2017. Attachment scanning is currently under review by ITS.

Getting Started

Who Can Have It?

  • ATP is part of the Office 365 suite of cloud-based services available to all current students, staff and faculty of Queen's University with an active Queen's email account. ATP also protects all incoming email for Exchange On Premises users. ATP also has the ability to protect other email services on campus.

Are There Any Costs?

  • ATP is part of Office 365 service and provided at no cost to eligible users.

How Do I Get It?

  • ATP is built into Exchange Online Protection, therefore there are no steps required to obtain this service.

What if I Leave Queen's?

  • Please see the Office 365 section of the Service Termination Dates page for details on when service will be discontinued following departure from Queen's. As long as you have a Queen's email account, ATP will protect it.
