Electronic Classroom Audio/Video Troubleshooting Guide
- Laptop Image
- No Image
- Projector on, Queen's Logo or blue screen?
- Yes--- Reselect input on controller
- BOTH ends of VGA Cable properly connected?
- Have you turned on your external monitor port?
- Humphrey 102... Sympodium MUST be ON
- Turn on the external display port.

Picture
- In Windows 7 = Windows key + P
- Some Toshiba Models
- Right click on desktop
- Intel(R) Dual Display Clone
- No -- Turn "Display Power" ON (hold 3 sec.) or do remotely
- Contoller functions are disabled while power up/down (90 sec)
- Image is Cropped
- lower the resolution by:
- Click start -Control Panel, Display, Settings
- Screen resolution, set to 1024x768, click Apply
- From within "Power Point" 2003 Version
- From within "Power Point" 2007 Version
- Image is split / half image / icons on one or other
- Click start -Control Panel, Display, settings
- in grey box select 2nd display
- Deselect "Extend my windows desktop on this monitor"
- Image on projector but flickers, goes away, intermittent
- Click start - Control Panel, Display, Settings
- Advancd button, Monitor tab, monitor settings
- (pull-down) choose anything over 60 Hz
- If only 60 Hz offered, computers refresh rate set to low, transfer to Computer Helpdesk 36666
- Image only one colour
- Check user end of VGA cable for bent or broken pins
- Bad cable from user to projector
- Display properties, Color quality set too low
- Image too dim
- Make WO to check lamp in projector
- Projector won't power on.
- IP enabled classroom
- Open the controllers Web Page is the Display Status: "Connected"?
- Yes- Goto control tab and turn "ON"
- No- Projector is locked up and must be reset.
- See Comments tab of room asset in Micromain for breaker location.
- Laptop Audio
- Volume level on controller
- Amp on and input turned up? (if cabinet not locked)
- Audio of VGA cable plugged in at both ends?
- Plugged into correct jack of laptop (Not Mic In)
- Up to four controls on a laptop
- thumb wheel (headphone jack)
- Media Player Level (Real Player, Windows Media etc.)
- Speakers disconnected due to laptop noise issues?
- No audio from MAC
- DVD Player (Not Laptop)
- No Image
- Projector on, blue screen or Queen's logo?
- Reselect input on controller
- Disc in (Label UP) and DVD logo on screen
- power should be on since a disc has been inserted
- Eject disc and watch for "No Disc" or DVD Players Logo
- If no then site visit required
- Yes- Press play, should begin playing if not site visit required
- Audio
- Volume Level on controller
- Amp on and input and Master turned up? ( if cabinet not locked)
- If video present but no audio site visit required
- VCR
- No Image
- Projector on, blue screen or Queen's logo?
- Reselect input on controller
- Tape in and "Play" should be displayed on screen
- power should be on since a Tape has been inserted
- Eject Tape and watch for "EJECT" on Display
- Is tape on Left Reel (REWOUND)
- Still no video, then site visit required (Video is not getting to Projector)
- VCR Audio
- Volume Level on controller
- Amp on and input turned up? ( if cabinet not locked)
- If video present but no audio site visit required
- Doc Camera
- Reselect input on controller
- if no video site visit required
- IPD (Interactive Pen Display)
- Laptop image is fed through this devise, Used for annotating video to projector
- Special software is required on laptop, available @ www.smarttech.com
- A USB cable from the IPD must be connected to the laptop
- Set Laptop "Screen Refresh Rate" below 72 Hz
- Auxiliary Video input
- Reselect input on controller
- Older rooms withOUT IP control VCR on and on L-1 (Aux. input may go through VCR)
- Auxiliary "S" Video input
- Reselect input on controller
