Manage Your Account


  1. Go to:   http://netid.queensu.ca
    • Click the Login to manage your account button
    • Note:  if you need help click the Call for Help or Help Form located in the footer.

  2. The Login to manage your account screen will open
    • Enter your NetID and Password
    • Click the Login button
    • Note: Make sure not to select the Remember Me button - especially on a computer you do not own and control

  1. Log into the NetID Profile Manager 
    • Select the Change your password option

  2. The Manage Your Account - Enter New Password screen will open
    • You will be required to create a password of a minimum of 10 characters in length that incorporates Uppercase, lowercase, numbers and special characters.
    • Enter your New Password
    • Re-enter your New Password to confirm it.  Do not use the copy & paste function.  If you accidently entered an incorrect character copying and pasting would duplicate the error and you would not know your new password.
    • Click the Continue button

  3. The Manage Your Account screen will open
    • Your new password has been save
    • Note that it may take up to 30 minutes for your password to change for some services
    • If you have "Saved you Password" for services such as Email, WiFi, etc you will need to reset your password in these services
    • Click the Continue button.

  4. The NetID Profile Manager Account Overview and Available Self-Service Actions screen will re-open
    • In the Account Overview section the Password Last Changed shows the date your password was last changed. 
    • Your password must be changed at least once every 12 months.  Some account will require more frequest changes.
    • Choose another option to change or click the LOGOUT button
    • Note:  if you require help Contact the IT Support Centre.  Information is listed in the footer.

Security question and answers will allow you to reset your password if you forget your password or you are locked out of your NetID account because your password is too old.
  1. Log in to the NetID Profile Manager
    • Select the Modify your security questions and answers

  2. The Manage Your Account - Modify Your Security Questions screen will open
    • Note:  You must answer at least three (3) questions and they must be the first 3 questions.  Select the question of your choice from the drop down menu. 
    • You can change all of the Questions and Answers or just one Question or Answer
    • Note your security Answers must be at least 4 characters long.
    • Click the Continue button

  3. The Manage Your Account - Success screen will open
    • Your account has been updated
    • Click the Continue button

  4. The Account Overview and Available Self-Service Actions screen will re-open
    • Choose another option to change or click the LOGOUT button

  5. Check your email
    • Email will be sent to both your Queen's email account and your Alternate email account (if you have one)
    • Note that the email comes from IDM Middleware.
    • If you receive a message similar to this and you did not make changes to your NetID account, contact the IT Support Centre by phoning 613.533.6666

Providing an Account Recovery Email Address will allow you to change your password should you forget your password or have your NetID Account locked because the password is too old.
  1. Log in to the NetID Profile Manager
    • Select Modify your alternate email address
    • Note:  If you require help contact the IT Support Centre.  Contact information is available in the footer

  2. The Manage Your Account - Modify Your Alternate Email Address screen will open
    • Enter a new Account Recovery Email
    • Note:  your Account Recovery Email Address cannot be an @queensu.ca address
    • Click the Continue button

    • Click the Continue button

  4. The NetID Profile Manager Account Overview and Available Self-Service Actions screen will re-open
    • Your Alternate Email will now be displayed in the Account Overview section
    • Choose another option to change or click the LOGOUT button

  5. Check your email accounts
    • You will receive an email message from IDM Middleware in both your Queen's email account and the Alternate email account you provided.
    • If you receive an email message and you have not made changes to your NetID contact the IT Support Centre immediately. 

Note:  This option is only available to Students

When your NetID was activated you were given the opportunity to review and change your publishing options.  At any time you can change your publishing options.  Any changes you make to your publishing options will be processed overnight. 

  1. Log in to NetID Profile Manger
    • Select Manage your publishing options

  2. The Manage Your Account - Publishing Options screen will open
    • Note:  Employees will not see the Set Publishing Options screen
    • The Queen's Online Directory is available through the web and can be accessed by anyone.
      • By default your degree and/or program will not be published in the Queen's Online Directory.  If you would like this information to be available to the public uncheck the box.
      • By default your Queen's email address will not published in the Queen's Online Directory.  If you would like this information to be available to the public uncheck the box. 
    • The Queen's Global Address List (GAL) is only accessible by current Queen's employees and students.  It is useful when making appointments and sending email.
      • By default students names and email address will be published in the GAL.  If a student would prefer not to have their name published in the GAL they can check this option.
    • Click the Continue button
    • Note:  if you change your mind you can always return and change your options.

  3. The Account Overview and Available Self-Service Actions screen will re-open
    • Choose another Action or Click the Logout button

  1. Log in to NetID Profile Manager
    • Select the Manage your email options

  2. The Manage Your Account - Manage Your Email Options screen will open
    • Your Published Email address will be displayed
    • Check the box beside Request New Alias 
    • Note:  if you do not have an email alias assigned to your NetID the Request New Alias button will be available.  Click it to create a new Alias
    • Once you have an email alias you will be able to choose whether your NetID@queensu.ca email address or your email alias your.name@queensu.ca is the published email address and will appear in the Global Address List (GAL)
    • Note:  students have the option of not publishing there email address in the GAL, but they will still be able to use their your.name email alias (it appears better on Resumes)
    • Click the Continue button

  3. The Manage Your Account - Request A New Alias screen will open
    • Four potential aliases will be displayed for you to choose from.  Select one.
    • If you want you new email alias to be your published email address check the box beside Publish Select Alias
    • Click the Continue button
    • Notes: 
      • if none of the potential alias are acceptable or if you have a specific alias you would like (for example a derivative of your first name or you go by your 2nd name) contact the IT Support Centre for assistance in choosing an email alias.
      • Publishing an alias will allow your email client to send email with a return address of the published alias.  This will give your sent email a personalized look.  If you do no Publish the alias, sent mail will appear in a recipients mailbox as coming from your netid@queensu.ca.
      • When an alias has been created, email sent to this address will be delivered the same as if it was addressed to your netid@queensu.ca 
      • You can manage your account at anytime to change your published address, but you can only have one alias per account.
    • Click the Continue button

  4. The Manage Your Account - Success screen will open
    • Click the Continue button

  5. The NetID Profile Manager Account Overview and Available Self-Service Actions screen will re-open
    • The Published Email: will show the email address that has been published
    • Note:  This option can be changed at any time.  You can switch between your NetID@queensu.ca email and the your.name@queensu.ca email
    • Choose another option to change or click the LOGOUT button
