Configuring MacOSX 10.5/10.6 to Connect to eduroam

  1. Ensure you have an activated NetID. You must have an activated NetID to connect to the eduroam service. Most users will have already completed this step at some point. However as a precautionary measure you should go to and login. This will ensure your account is properly activated. It may take up to an hour for the account to complete its activation. So if it does not first connect, please be patient.
  2. Locate eduroam wireless network
    • In the top right hand corner of your screen you will see the wireless communication icon.
    • Click it and locate eduroam in the list.
    • Simply click it.

  3. The network "eduroam" requires a password screen will open
    • In the User Name: field enter your NetID followed by  Note:  Do not use a  email alias.
    • In the Password: field enter your NetID's password.
    • The 802.1X should be set to Automatic. (Note: in the event you have connection issues try switching 802.1x to EAP-TTLS with PAP).
    • Click the OK button

  4. The Verify Certificate screen will open
    • Note:  If you have used Eduroam before, you may not see this screen. 
    • To ensure secure communications a special certificate is provided by the server to your machine. This screen allows you to view and verify it.
    • Typically just clicking Continue will be fine, but if you wish to double check click Show Certificate .

  5.  Below is the screen you would see if you click Show Certificate
    • You should expect to see the small green check mark. That tells you it is valid. 
    • Check the box beside Always trust ""
    • Click the Continue button

  6. You're connected!
  7. In Case of Failure
    • In the event that you receive an error message, it is likely you have just entered an incorrect NetID followed by or password. Please try again.
    • Try the wireless tips they may help
