Queen's provides three wireless networks, two secure and one not. The system continues to grow in both coverage and capacity. An updated list is available under Wireless Locations.
Anyone who has the following can use the Queen's wireless networks:
It is recommended that users use the secure network. The "queensu" unsecure network is provided for computers that are unable to use WPA2 security. For more information on the queensu unsecure wireless network visit the Unsecure wireless tutorial. Any 802.11a/b/g/ WiFi certified network card should work with the Queen’s Wireless. Check with your manufacturer for details or call the ITS helpline (613-53)3-6666.
As always, a wired connection is preferred when the location from which you access the network is fixed. You can benefit from the greater speed and reliability of the wired connection. Wireless is really about convenience for mobility.
The "QueensuSecure_WPA2" secure network is WPA2 encrypted. Anyone who meet the above criteria, a computer that is appropriately equipped for wireless Ethernet that supports WPA2.
To connect to the new Secure Wireless Network QueensuSecure_WPA2, you will need to set up your computer’s network software.
