OneDrive for Business has arrived!

ITS is pleased to announce that Microsoft OneDrive for Business is now available to all
Queen's students, faculty and staff.

OneDrive for Business is part of the Microsoft Office 365 suite of cloud services: a secure and reliable place to store, share and sync your files.

Key features include:

1 TB (that's 1,000 gigabytes!!) of storage space for your documents and files, with unlimited storage promised for a 2015 upgrade;

Easy sharing of files with Queen's and non-Queen's users, and control over who has viewing and editing privileges;

File syncing across multiple devices with access anywhere, at any time, both online and offline; and

Microsoft's 99.9% service uptime means that files stored on OneDrive for Business will always be available whenever you need them

OneDrive for Business is a Queen's chosen solution for file storage and collaboration. While it is not intended as a replacement for departmental QShare or Active Directory accounts, it does remove the need to use personal cloud services such as Dropbox for institutional file storage. An added benefit to students is that a personal OneDrive account is no longer required to use mobile versions of Office 365 ProPlus.

"Storing files in the cloud allows colleagues to make edits online without having to download anything!"

Office 365's integrated collaboration tools also include Office Online, web-based versions of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook. It combines commonly used Office features and real-time co-authoring capabilities, so you can collaborate on shared documents, presentations, spreadsheets and notebooks. This means that students working on group projects can now use Office Online to collaborate on documents from wherever they are connected - residence, library or home - and from any computer or device.

Faculty and staff can share and edit confidential documents and securely store them in OneDrive for Business with full control over who can access them - eliminating the need to continuously email draft versions back and forth.
