Increase in Phishing Attempts
Over the past few days, there has been an increase in the number of phishing attempts to hit campus inboxes. These phishing attempts have come from on-campus email accounts that have been compromised. For example, on March 15, a message from Provost Dr. Bacon was sent to campus inboxes. This message was a malicious attempt to gain unauthorized access to your account.
If your information was compromised, change your password immediately and contact the IT Support Centre at (613)533-6666.

Note that this page does not contain an exhaustive list of all phishing attempts to hit campus. It contains only those phishing messages that ITS has been made aware of. It is still possible for you to receive a phish that is not listed on this page.
- Are unsure of the source of a message
- Do not recognize the sender
- Are not expecting a message from that sender
- Do not know what the message is referring to, or;
- Do not recognize an attachment
it is likely that the message is a phishing attempt. If you are suspicious of a message, please do not click on any links or attachments included within the email.
If you are unsure if an email is a phishing attempt contact the IT Support Centre for guidance. To determine if the email is a phish, you can follow the steps listed on the ITS Phishing page (http://www.queensu.ca/its/security/education-awareness/phishing/phishing...). You can also visit Microsoft's page detailing how Office helps protect you from phishing schemes.
Note: do not click links within an email message. You should always navigate directly to a website's login page from your internet browser.
