Keynote Address: Transformational Change at Queen’s – Moving to the Cloud for Student Email
Bo Wandschneider, CIO/AVP |
Bo Wandschneider, CIO and AVP (Information Technology Services), will discuss the move toward externally hosted (cloud) solutions as a transformational step in the delivery of enterprise services to the Queen’s community. He will address this in the context of moving undergraduate students to Microsoft Office 365 in early 2013 for the delivery of student email and calendar services, a transition that will significantly enhance the student experience. Of particular note are the extensive due diligence activities undertaken before moving in this direction – engaging the campus community, contract negotiations with Microsoft, and the execution of a Privacy Risk Assessment. |

Microsoft Office 365: A New Email Direction for Undergraduate Students
Mike Smith, Project Lead, Student Email Migration |
Mike will present Microsoft Office 365 (O365) as the new solution for student email, calendaring, tasks, and contacts. O365 offers a feature-rich web interface, seamless integration with mobile devices, larger mailbox quota, and an infrastructure that’s compatible with the new email and calendar service introduced earlier this year for staff, faculty and graduate students. At this presentation you will learn how this solution was chosen, the benefits of the new service, and details about the migration process and timeline. |
