Add a printer on the Queen's Active Directory in Windows 8.1

Print Service enables Queen's to centralize network printing tasks. Windows computers joined to Active Directory will have network printers managed by ITS.  Only windows computers joined to Active Directory are able to benefit from Print Service. 

Add a Printer

  1. Open the Control Panel and select View Devices and Printers
    • Click the Add a printer button

  2. The Add Printer screen will open
    • The Select a printer list will be populated with printers
    • Click The printer that I want isn't listed button
    • Click the Next button

  3. The Find a printer by other options screen will open
    • Select Find a printer in the directory, based on location or feature
    • Click the Next button

  4. The Find Printers screen will open
    • From the In: drop down menu select Entire Directory
    • From the Printers tab in the Name: field begin entering the name of the printer.  The list will be populated
    • Note that the list can be sorted by clicking on the Name, Location, or Model column headings
    • Locate and click on the printer you want to add
    • Click the OK button
    • You will now be able to select the printer whenever you need to print.
