FAQs for Lync

Q. The Macintosh install of Lync is not working. What should I do?

If Lync for Mac is not working, please complete the following steps:

  1. Confirm all updates have been applied for Microsoft Lync
    • Open Lync
    • Click on Help
    • Select Check for Updates
  2. Complete a manual configuration of Lync for Mac:

  3. If Lync is still not working, apply the following hot fix.

  4. The hot fix addresses the following: issue: 2884055 "Cannot connect to the call" error when you make a call in the 14.0.5 version of Lync for Mac 2011. After installation, you should be using Version 14.0.5 (130924).
Q. What features are available with the client version of 2013 vs. 2010 vs. Mac 2011?
Q. How do I control privacy with Lync?
Q. I am unable to sign into Lync 2013 using a computer that is logged into a domain other than ad.queensu.ca. What should I do?

Lync 2013 has a bug in which the domain credentials are the only credentials being passed to the Lync Server. A workaround does exist, but you will need to speak to your department's domain administrator for a resolution that they support.
