Queen's University

IT Disaster Recovery Planning Standard

Executive Summary

One of the objectives of Queen's University's information security program is to establish IT Disaster Recovery Plans across campus IT units. The IT Disaster Recovery templates were created to assist Queen’s University departments in developing consistent and cohesive IT Disaster Recovery Plans. All “owners” of an IT system should invest in creating a Disaster Recovery Plan to manage risks related to availability of technology that enables and supports the mission of the University.

These templates were developed by the Queen’s Security Community of Practice: Disaster Recovery Focus Group to assist others on campus to more easily create their own plans for IT Disaster Recovery.

The scope of this project was limited to system recovery in the event of a disaster and is intended to aid in the resumption of business in a timely fashion.  Using the Disaster Recovery Plan Template below should give individual units a very real and workable disaster recovery plan.

A special thank you to the Security Community of Practice: Disaster Recovery Focus Group for their efforts.
