Tablets and Handhelds

 

ITServices endeavors to support the use of handheld and mobile devices for use on Queen’s Campus. We will provide support for these devices with documentation where possible. Due to variations in device operating systems because of manufacture modifications, there will be times when ITServices will provide referrals to vendor online support, or vendor email/phone support.

Operating Systems

The following operating systems are supported:

  • iOS 4.3+
  • Blackberry 4.3+

Referral Support will be provided for devices using:

  • Android 2.2+

Services Supported

Registration and basic troubleshooting for connectivity to the campus wireless network is supported, as well as configuration for the following:

  • WPA2_Secure;
  • QueensU wireless (in cases where the device doesn’t support WPA2 enterprise);
  • configuration for email and calendar using wireless Exchange ActiveSync or BES (Exchange users);
  • configuration for email using IMAP (Exchange users); and
  • configuration for email using IMAP (JES email Users).

Note: If you are unsure of which email service (JES or Exchange) that you use, you can Check the Status of Your Account.

Services Not Supported

The following services are not supported:

  • Issues related to phone coverage or carrier problems;
  • GPS (Global Positioning System) or blue-tooth coverage;
  • applications that are not related to Queens email and/or calendar usage/synchronization as defined above; and
  • functionality other than email or calendar synchronization.
